Tracing a receipt from the dock to the bin the system claims
A pallet can pass through gate, quality hold, and putaway before the inventory application shows it as available. Each hop is a chance for a silent split.
Take a familiar line: a container received at a Pasir Gudang or Senai warehouse, destined for a pick face. In many Malaysian stacks the quantity is captured at the gate, held in a quality or staging location, then put away by scan or by a paper putaway list that is keyed later.
Each hop can change the record. A split pallet posted to one bin and physically placed in two. A quality-hold location that still appears in available-to-promise. A putaway confirmed the next morning while the receipt date stays on yesterday’s dock log.
When we trace a receipt we ask for the gate record and the application posting from the same day, not a rebuilt enquiry. We compare case counts and catch-weights where they exist. We read the location the system held on the movement date, not the location as it exists after a later transfer. If the application overwrites history, that fact itself belongs in the letter.
